Islamabad (October 28, 2025): Pakistan’s Federal Minister for Planning and Development Ahsan Iqbal has announced that Pakistan’s first astronaut will travel to space in 2026. He shared this exciting news while speaking at the inauguration ceremony of the High-Speed Internet and Commercial Satellite Project in Islamabad.

Ahsan Iqbal said that the progress of any nation depends on its access to space technology. He added that space science is now one of the main pillars of Uraan Pakistan” (Rising Pakistan).
During his speech, he proudly mentioned that Pakistan has launched four satellites into space over the past two years -a milestone achievement for the country’s scientific and technological growth.

According to the minister, Pakistan has now gained the capability to provide internet services through its own satellites. By combining fiber, 5G, and commercial satellite technology, Pakistan is laying the foundation for a new era of digital connectivity.

Ahsan Iqbal said the goal of “E-Pakistan” is to connect young people from every corner of the country to the global digital world. He emphasized that every school and health center will be connected to broadband internet under this national vision.

He added that E-Pakistan is not just a slogan — it represents the backbone of a modern digital economy and governance system. This transformation will open millions of job opportunities for youth across the country.

The minister also explained that the internet is no longer just a communication tool — it has become a core infrastructure for productivity. Ensuring fast internet access to every citizen, especially in remote areas, will help bridge the digital divide. Satellite internet, he said, will play a key role in connecting far-off regions.

The announcement of Pakistan’s first astronaut marks a proud moment for the nation, reflecting its growing commitment to science, technology, and innovation. With these steps, Pakistan is preparing to take its place among countries advancing rapidly in space exploration and digital development.
